Roof light bar

Roof light bar
My dad and i made this light bar last weekend. Keep in mind this was my first attempt at welding so it might not look too pretty, but it seems solid. Started with a straight piece of DOM, cut it to length and using a crappy pipe bender from harbor freight i put a slight curve in it. I then ordered (4) Ruffstuff specialties light tabs, and welded them in place. It mounts to an already existing roof rack bar hole, and i just made some tabs out of 1/4" steel to mount it.
My first attempt at welding, not too bad looking i thought.[Image: image_zps30970c13.jpg]
After the light bar was built, i had to cut down the wind visor on the roof, so i trimmed it down about a total of 4 inches, and matched it to the curve of the bar. Also outlined the edge of it with some black trim. [Image: Image3_zps861a17f9.jpg]
Final product. [Image: Image4_zps56a07333.jpg]
Mounted on truck.

RE: Roof light bar
Awesome. Good job man. You guys should think about selling those online. Seems like a simple enough design. There is a crap load of you X owners around. Could make a few bucks.

RE: Roof light bar
thanks man, my welds are nothing to be proud of, so I definitely need some more work before I try that, but I think I will give it a shot once I can weld nicely. as of now I think my welds seem strong but aren't exactly pretty haha

RE: Roof light bar
They're just holding lights lol. But if you plan on selling it you need to make them look good. What kind of welder are you using?

RE: Roof light bar
I'm using a harbor freight wire feed welder. the welds are definitely strong, I'd sell them if there was enough interest.

RE: Roof light bar
This is the one and only reason I wish I had a more popular rig to test new parts on. I could make stuff like this and actually try and sell them.

RE: Roof light bar
