Chevy Suburban Front Winch Bumper
Guess I'll start a separate thread for this project. Plans are to build a plate steel front winch bumper with a brushguard. Similar style to an ARB bumper. Since the Suburbans grille needs to be removed to replace headlight bulbs, or replace any of the 4 coolers up front I want to build the bumper as a two piece.

The center portion will have a winch mount and recovery points, slide inside the framerails and attach to the front spring brackets.

First was to make a mockup out of cardboard.

After a few changes I cut everything out of 1/4" plate, and cut 4 pieces of 3/8" for around the recovery points.

So 1/4 inch sandwiched between 2 pieces of 3/8 to make it 1" thick. The 1/4 piece runs the full length of the winch mount from tip to frame rail.

Bored the hole out to 1" to fit a pair of shackles.

And everything welded up ready for paint. The rear support is spaced up 3/16" to allow for drainage.

RE: Chevy Suburban Front Winch Bumper
I painted the winch mount with some hammered bronze to match the rock rings. Then slipped in a Smittybilt XRC 15,500 lb, its big heavy and awkward like everything else on the truck Tongue

The mount slides inside the framerails and ties in with the front spring hangers.
