Lokka brand Locker Install
I think I will be pulling the trigger on one of these soon.

Before I even attempt to file my taxes. After I cut a large check to 0bama, I won't want to spend any money and will be eating Ramen for a while.

So I am thinking of getting one of these. Appears to be the same product as Aussie locker. A bit on the Cheap site, too, which is good.

I am seeing that the ring gear has to be unbolted from the carrier. Does that mean it has to have all the stuff reset inside?

I will also be replacing my (also brand new) U Joints with some Spicer 5-760X joints and just swapping the shafts during the install.

Anyone have any other tips, tricks, etc for this?

With some of the trips I see myself taking - pretty sure I am going to need some sort of locker.

You only need to remove the carrier and ring gear if you cant get the cross pin out. You wont have to mess with shims or anything even if you do remove the carrier. Just put everything back where it came from.

Looks pretty straightforward but I got a bit concerned with it when I saw bits being taken apart. I may end up doing the inner seals while I am in there.

I don't see myself doing too well at Jay's but we will see!

Update! Bought it!

After watching the install video I now understand what makes the lunchbox different from a whole carrier locker.

Pretty neat how they work, too! I think I may have been able to get away with a rear one and still be able to tow the popup. I can't quite run it through my head if the outside wheel will overrun the inside wheel.

Cool

They are definitely more diy friendly than a carrier swap.

I have a spartan locker in the rear of the plow scout. Even with v-bar tire chains, it does not unlock when turning tight on frozen ground. Your results may vary. There is only one way to find out!
